Bishop Clive Read relocated from Derbyshire to Jávea (on Spain’s Costa Blanca) at the end of 1985, with Ann, his wife. Protestant priests are allowed to marry. Subsequently he has been Primate Archbishop of the Anglican Independent Communion Worldwide since 2012. This couple and their children travelled from Australia for the Ceremony.
Before accepting the call to full-time ministry, he and Ann:
- Established the Anglo Jávea hour on Radio Jávea
- Founded Jávea Good Neighbour’s Club
- Created Vigilante Vecinos (Neighbourhood Watch)
- Founded Jávea International Civic Society
- Established Grapevine Magazine
In 1992 Clive and Ann, who were missionary pastors ordained by Elim Church Incorporated in Cheltenham, founded Jávea Evangelical Church. In 1995 it became the first Protestant Church in Jávea to have 24/7 premises.
Invitation to Anglicanism
For reasons he is always happy to explain, Father Clive was ordained a Deacon and Presbyter by the Communion of Evangelical Episcopal Church at ceremonies in Richardson, Texas, Consecrated a Bishop in Chile, and installed on September 15th (Ann’s birthday) as Archbishop of Europe of the Anglican Independant Church Worldwide, in Manchester in 2007.
